1Overview
The Model 951 nukeALERT is the essential preventative detection tool for disclosing the presence and intensity of gamma radiation to nontechnical personnel. It is small, rugged, and watertight, and it is more sensitive than the radiation meters first responders commonly carry. That extra sensitivity matters most with concealed radiological material, where levels shift with distance and shielding.
The nukeALERT 951 detects gamma radiation discreetly and alerts the wearer with either a vibration or an audible signal. Battery life reaches two years, and the unit recalibrates automatically in high background environments. A belt clip and a bright visual display support hands-free operation. The rugged micro-sized package gives HAZMAT and emergency response teams a watertight monitoring tool that holds up in the field. When a radiological emergency unfolds, a team carrying the nukeALERT 951 can survey a large area quickly and cost-effectively, thanks to the improvement in sensitivity and response time.
2Key Features

- Rugged enclosure, watertight against extreme weather
- Standard belt clip attachment
- Two-year battery life, self powered
3Detector & Performance
The Model 951 is a pager-style Personal Radiation Detector (PRD). It is built around a Cesium Iodide (CsI) scintillator, which gives it more sensitivity than the Geiger-Mueller meters first responders typically carry. The detector responds to gamma radiation down to 20 keV and reaches full readings in under a second.
The unit auto-calibrates to background when it powers on, then self-adjusts when high background is present, which keeps the false alarm rate low. It signals through four escalating methods, so the wearer gets the alert in any condition.
Notification methods
| Method | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Audio alarm | Beeps increase as radiation strength rises |
| Vibration | Vibration pulses increase as radiation strength rises |
| Flashing LED | Flashes increase with strength; color changes from orange to red |
| Numeric readout | LED reads "1" through "9," with "9" the highest |

7Ordering / In the Box
The standard Model 951 nukeALERT ships ready to wear with the integrated CsI scintillator, the standard belt clip, and two AA alkaline batteries. Add the belt pouch for an alternate carry. Because the unit auto-calibrates and runs for two years on its own batteries, it stays mission-ready with minimal upkeep.
